The Fundamentals of Blogging

Hello Everybody,

This week we learned about the fundamentals of blogging. Blogging has become and important part of the attract category of the inbound marketing methodology. It is so important because blogging can get your website traffic and create qualified leads. Approximately 43% of companies have acquired a customer through their blog. However, just as it was important in designing your website, it's important to put great care in creating your blog. A poorly functional blog will deter customers just as a poorly functional website would.

There are key things to keep in mind when creating your blog. First you need to know your audience. Cater to their wants and their needs, you could have a great blog but that won't matter unless you're putting out information that people are looking for. Be sure to publish content that's on-topic and important to your buyer personas. Another thing to keep in mind is if you help solve a person's problem, they'll be more likely to come back to you. You need quality content, otherwise people will move on and forget about your blog.

You also need to keep in mind the SEO practices for blogging. You should always try to include keywords in the title (approx. 55 characters long), so that people know what to expect from that particular post. Also you need to be sure to include a meta description (approx. 140 characters). Be sure to double check your images file names and create alt tags for all images. Be sure to create links and anchor text. And with people doing almost everything on their phones now-a-days, you need to be sure your blog is mobile friendly.

This is an example of a successful good blog,

Happy Blogging!
