This post is going to be covering Social Media Marketing's chapter 4, Facebook Ads.
Facebook outranks other social media sites.
So it only makes sense that businesses would flock to Facebook to advertise. We've all seen them, hanging out on the right side of our newsfeeds. Sometimes actually sneaking into our newsfeed, trying to pretend to be a cute cat video, but really being a clever advertisement trying to sneak its way into your brain. We get it, we see them.
But you don't have to be a business to use Facebook ads. Anyone can sponsor any of their posts. As long as you got the funds, but even then you can control how much you actually want to invest. Facebook strives to make advertising easy, because quite honestly that's how they make their money. Nothing deters a person as quick as frustration, so they try to make it as painless as possible. So really if you want your business's page to do well, be ready to open your wallet, because just getting likes through being witty and popular, isn't going to cut it anymore.
When creating an ad for Facebook keep in mind that people don't come to Facebook to buy things. It's more of a "go with the flow" or "trending" posts that are popular on Facebook. Let me ask you, when was the last time you actually clicked on a ad that listed specific products with their prices? Yeah, me neither. You're not their to shop. You're there to see what's going viral, what's going on in the world and what's going on with your friends. So the goal with your ads is to get people to go to your page and like it, not to necessarily buy things (hopefully that comes later). What you're going to be focusing on at first is your CTR (click through rate). This will help you judge your performance and if you are targeting the right audience. Social media also goes a long way in order to establish some credibility.
Until next time,
Caitlin Campbell
